Strolling through rows of books, losing yourself in the first pages of a novel and leaving the store with a new treasure at the end? Sounds like a dream afternoon to you? Then you should pay a visit to these three bookshops in Stuttgart. Because here you’ll find friendly service, selected books and the odd community event.
1st Pörksen bookshop
Personal service is a top priority here. And that’s why you always feel like you’re in good hands at the Pörksen bookshop. Here you will find selected books, exclusive music and wine editions, writing culture, handmade accessories and great games. The bookshop pays attention to sustainability, longevity and environmental compatibility – we can only applaud that. Let’s go there!

2nd Vaihingen bookshop
Books, selected with love. The Vaihinger Buchladen is probably more of an institution than a bookshop. In addition to selected books, there are author events for young and old as well as the test reader club, where children rate books they have read and help other children choose new books. With so much commitment, it’s no wonder that the Vaihingen bookshop won the German Bookshop Award in 2020. Definitely worth a visit.

3rd Walther König bookshop
For all art, architecture, photography and design enthusiasts, the Walther König bookshop in the Kunstmuseum Stuttgart is definitely the right address. The beautiful foyer of the Kunstmuseum is a great place to browse in peace. You can also buy titles by the artists currently exhibiting here. The bookshop is our favorite address if you’re looking for something a little more creatively sophisticated.
