After 900 years of inactivity, Iceland’s Fagradalsfjall volcano awoke last Friday and it didn’t take long for onlookers to take in the beauty of it all.
The fact that natural phenomena attract observers is nothing new. No one wants to miss a historic event and that is the case with this Icelandic volcano.
Just 30 kilometers from the capital Reykjavik, the eruption of Fagradalsfjall attracted thousands of observers who even ignored the warnings of the local authorities.
Apparently everyone who made the pilgrimage to the site had brought cameras to immortalize such a spectacular event. Some even recorded the lava eruptions, which were up to 100 meters high, from their own drones.
Some hungry souls even used the heat of the lava for a proper meal, as can be seen in the following video.
