In order to promote the development of tourism in Europe and to give young Europeans the opportunity to compensate for the travel losses caused by Covid-19, the EU is relaunching the DiscoverEU program.
It is obvious that the past year was rather bad for travel. No one knows this better than the almost entire generation of young people who had to miss out on discovering the treasures of our continent.
Knowing this and in order to promote the tourism industry, the European Union is relaunching its DiscoverEU initiative. It is a project in which up to 60,000 young Europeans can receive free train tickets to travel throughout the Union.
Launched in 2018, the initiative enabled around 30,000 young people to travel by train and admire the amazing diversity of European landscapes and cultures.
You too can simply take part: If you are of legal age and resident in the EU, you can register on this website. The winners will be randomly selected from the entries and will receive a DiscoverEU passport. This will give them thirty days of unlimited travel on the continent’s 250,000 km of railroads between March 2022 and March 2023. The application dates have not yet been confirmed, but the passes are expected to be distributed in October 2021.
All other travel costs will of course be borne by the prospective tourists. But 30 days and over 40,000 destinations in 33 countries are more than good reasons to pack your bags and set off to discover Europe!
