Good news for Stuttgart’s vegans, vegetarians and, in fact, all foodies. As it turns out, the pandemic hasn’t stopped us all from enjoying the sweetest international gastronomy. On the contrary: now we can enjoy it in a healthy and sustainable way. Because a vegan doughnut store has finally arrived in our city, which could not only bring joy, but also real culinary delights.
Californian-style donuts
Jones Donuts is the name of this new culinary landmark. The owner is 28-year-old Stuttgart baker Jonathan Mageot, who has fulfilled a dream with this unique donut store. He had already gained plenty of experience in local bakeries, but it was only when he moved to Los Angeles and tried the vegan donuts there that he found his true calling.
Mageot has not only brought delicious recipes with him, but also a piece of healthy American food culture. Stuttgart locals can – and many already have – enjoy them in the form of ten donut varieties, with many more to come. There are the classics with chocolate or vanilla filling for 2.90 euros, but also special varieties for 3.50 euros. These include delicacies such as donuts à la rice pudding with cherry or with Boston cream – with high-quality chocolate ganache from Original Beans and vanilla pudding. All are baked by Mageot itself, using oat milk and vegetable margarine instead of milk, butter and eggs.
And these are just some of the things that attracted just as many visitors on this opening weekend. There are also alternatives for those who can’t call themselves donut fans: Yogurt ice cream, bagels with vegan toppings, lemonade and coffee with oat milk are also available. Oat milk milkshakes are also in the pipeline.
Jones Donuts is located on the corner of Calwer Straße and Lange Straße. Opening hours are from Monday to Saturday, from 10 am to 7 pm. On Sundays it is open from 11 am to 7 pm.
