Almost three years have passed since Arya Stark’s victory over the White Walkers and the death of Daenerys Targaryen. And although many fans were not exactly satisfied with the ending of HBO ‘s most successful series to date, there is still hardly anyone who has seen the series and does not dream of adventures in Westeros. Well, from next year, they will all be a little closer to Westeros: In February 2022, the Game of Thrones Studio will open its doors, a theme park dedicated entirely to the series.
This is what the Game of Thrones theme park will look like
The Game of Thrones Studio is located at Linen Mill Studios in Banbridge, a town in Northern Ireland – the same location where 75% of the series’ filming took place in the country. This highly anticipated macro project, a joint venture between Warner Bros. Themed Entertainment and Linen Mill Studios, is designed as an interactive experience across 33,000m2 – probably the size of Winterfell. It will give followers of Stark, Lannister and Targaryen the opportunity to explore a variety of original sets, costumes, props and set pieces.
Among other things, they can walk through the iconic Great Hall of Winterfell, see Daenerys’ imposing throne on Dragonstone and immerse themselves in the incredible props, weapons and visual effects from the award-winning television series. Using state-of-the-art design and technology, this experience brings Westeros to life and transports visitors into the epic stories of the series – King’s Landing, Winterfell, Dragonstone, the Wall and the lands beyond.
Tickets and experiences for the Game of Thrones theme park are now available on the official website. Fortunately for fans, free movement between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland is virtually unrestricted despite Brexit. One less obstacle for all of you who want to conquer the Iron Throne. As Andrew Webb and David Browne, CEOs of Linen Mill Studios, put it: “This incredible and unique experience will bring the series to life once again and we are very much looking forward to welcoming fans and visitors from all over the world.”
