Currywurst lovers in Stuttgart – and there are certainly quite a few of them – are in a celebratory mood. Since last week, there has been another place to add to their favorite stalls. That’s right: a branch of My Currywurst from Heidelberg has opened in Stuttgart’s Schulstraße. It was a huge success in its home town, and now it could be here too.
Eight levels of spiciness
But what’s so special about this currywurst? A look inside the store reveals it. It advertises with the slogan:“The hottest currywurst in your city!” And even if that may sound like an empty slogan – far from it. We assure you that it will bring tears to your eyes when you take your first bite.
But luckily for the many of us with sensitive stomachs, there is more than one level of spiciness to choose from. There are actually eight, with one being the lowest – “No spiciness, I’m spicy enough” – and eight being the highest, called “All the way to hell and back”. Individual sausages are available, and for a reasonable price you can order a menu with a soft drink and very good fries.
Even more interesting is that there are three different types of sausage to choose from: Beef, bratwurst and a vegan sausage, made exclusively with organic products. They can all be seasoned to the visitor’s taste.
This, together with the price and quality, must be the reason why the stall has attracted so many customers in its first week of operation. Whether the currywurst is as good as at Brunnenwirt, however, remains to be seen. And there is really only one way to find out.
