According to an index compiled by the German energy company E.ON, Baden-Württemberg comes second among the greenest federal states due to its implementation of sustainable energy.
The energy transition in Germany is a fact. More and more people are switching to renewable energies, while inventors are trying to find more effective and less environmentally damaging resources. In Baden-Württemberg, this has been going on for years and now it has been recognized as one of the greenest federal states.
The German energy company E.ON has compiled a ranking to find the regions with the highest expansion of green energy, the highest number of charging stations for electric cars and the greatest overall commitment to energy sustainability. Baden-Württemberg came in second place, just behind Hamburg.
To find this out, four main categories were taken into account: Green electricity installations, green electricity use, patents and charging station density. Different data was analyzed and used for each category: The Federal Network Agency’s data on green power plants, a nationwide survey of how many people use green electricity and the number of inventors who have filed green patents for each federal state.
In this sense, our federal state is one of those in which the largest proportion of green energy is consumed and in which the most patents are filed. This is certainly something to be proud of and something that can be improved.
