State Theater
The Staatstheater is a beautiful building that was renovated in 1999 and now serves as a cultural center. The façade is particularly striking with its arches and columns as well as statues of figures from Greek mythology. The theater has an interesting history: it was built in 1818, but was destroyed by fire during the Second World War. It was reopened in 1956 after extensive reconstruction by architect Fritz Schumacher (who also designed Stuttgart’s town hall).
The Staatstheater hosts numerous events throughout the year – including concerts, plays and musicals – definitely worth a visit!
