With the global outbreak of Corona in February last year and the difficulties of traveling to other countries, our chances of discovering the hidden treasures of so many cities have been (temporarily) canceled.
That is until Munich student Erkam Seker tried to deal with this disappointment with a very special project: Drive & Listen.
It is a web that combines recordings of drivers driving through famous cities around the world – from Berlin to Mumbai – with live sound from various local radios.
For example, we can take a cab ride through Seoul while listening to the local news in Korean or the latest K-pop hit. With more than 5 radio stations for each city in a total of more than 20 languages, it’s up to us to decide which one we want to tune into.
The project, which began in May last year with a dozen cities, has grown steadily and now includes 53 cities. You can only imagine how many hours of driving that is.
Seker is accepting donations on his website to help his business grow and also fund his studies. And after enabling us to enjoy the closest thing to a vacation in an exotic city that we will have this year, he definitely deserves it.
